Srinagar, Jul 21 (KNO): The Central government on Tuesday informed Parliament that Jammu and Kashmir has been sanctioned 19 crop storage infrastructure projects with a cumulative storage capacity of 99,937 metric tonnes under the Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure (AMI) scheme as part of efforts to strengthen post-harvest infrastructure and reduce losses. According to a written reply tabled in the Lok Sabha by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the Centre is implementing the AMI sub-scheme under the Integrated Scheme for Agricultural Marketing (ISAM), the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) to enhance warehousing, cold storage and marketing infrastructure for farmers across the country. The reply, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Jammu and Kashmir has been sanctioned 33 cold storage and cold chain projects besides 16 warehouse projects. It further said that under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Jammu and Kashmir has received approval for 76 cold storage projects with a combined storage capacity of 3,52,206 metric tonnes. These include nine projects supported by the National Horticulture Board and 67 projects under the National Horticulture Mission—(KNO)
